Richmond, Va. (Dec. 14, 2021) – Elephant Insurance announced today the third round of recipients for its Helping Herd initiative. Through the program, Elephant is donating $300,000 to organizations and programs that have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic or who are providing COVID-19 relief to their community.
“The Elephant team is so proud to offer this opportunity to organizations focused on physical health that have been impacted by the pandemic,” said Alberto Schiavon, Elephant CEO. “Elephant is grateful we can provide extra support to these organizations with the help of our parent company Admiral Group.”
The third round of Elephant employee-driven COVID-relief donations focused on nonprofits that serve the community in the physical health space, and Elephant is giving $75,000 across 13 different organizations. Feed More and Safe Harbor received the most votes and received the largest donation amounts. The full list of third round recipients and donations includes:
“It’s always great to see our corporate partners helping their neighbors in need. This Helping Herd contribution from Elephant Insurance could not have come at a better time as we continue to meet our food-insecure neighbor’s needs today and plan for the new year ahead. Big thanks to the whole Elephant Insurance Herd!” remarked Doug Pick, President & CEO of Feed More.
“The Helping Herd donation will ensure that the next survivor who calls us will get the support they need. This means that when a survivor reaches out for help, we can say ‘we are here.’ Here to provide safe shelter, so they can sleep well at last. Here to speak up for them in the courtroom. Here to offer counseling and case management services so adult and child survivors can heal and rebuild their lives,” said Mary Maupai, Development Director of Safe Harbor.
The first round of recipients were announced in August and the second in October. The first round focused on mental health, with $64,500 being distributed among different organizations. The second round focused on nonprofits that positively impact diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and serve underrepresented parts of the community, with $61,500 distributed. The full list of recipients can be found here.
Elephant team members were involved in the Helping Herd selection process, either by nominating deserving groups by survey and/or participating in the voting process to finalize the recipients. There will be four rounds of donations, with each round focusing on a specific area to include: mental health; diversity, equity, and inclusion; physical health; and community health. The community health funds will be distributed in the coming months.
Through the Helping Herd, Elephant’s aim is to reach at least 50 organizations or programs with the funds, with gifts ranging in size from $2,000 to $20,000. A large portion of the funds are anticipated to be distributed in Virginia, where Elephant is headquartered, but Helping Herd funds will also go to organizations in other states where Elephant services are offered, including Texas.
The program was made possible by Elephant’s parent company, Admiral Group, who shares in Elephant’s mission of making a positive impact on local communities during challenging times.
